Some more about how we bowl
aka "how we get our bowl on"

- The first 5 weeks are the regular season. Your personal average will be established during the first week and therefore the first week's games do not count. Whatever your score is your first game will be your average for the next week. Those averages will be used to then calculate handicaps to determine which team wins your game the following week. Averages are updated weekly, so there's no reason to suck on purpose the first week! We take care of figuring all this out for ya, so don't worry if you have no idea what we're talking about. Literally all you gotta do is show up and bowl as good as possible each week!

Whether you are good or bad, your team will be just as capable of winning as the next because the worse you are the more "free pins" you get tacked onto your score at the end of every game. So hypothetically speaking, if all players on both teams bowl their average for every game, then you will end up tying. Make sense? If not, just know that even if your competition all average 200 games and you all bowl 50s, it's all about who bowls the highest above their average. Basically just try to bowl as good as you can. And have fun. Duh.

- Substitute players ARE allowed in this league. If you cannot make it one week, tell your team AS SOON AS YOU KNOW. Then you or your team can find a replacement of the same gender for the night. If you have to miss this first week, just try to find a sub! When the substitute arrives, simply have them go to the front counter and say which team and player they are filling in for. The first time the sub comes, his/her score will not count towards who wins the match since he/she doesn't have an average yet! But playing this first game will establish him/her an average that can be used to see who wins future games (kinda like how we get your averages the first week). This substitute will then be entered as a "backup" on your team for possible future fill-ins. Then, when he/she returns, we can keep on using that average that has been established so that the subs scores start to count! That's more fun.

If you cannot find a substitute player of the same gender,
definitely try to bring one of the other gender (it's better than having an open spot!)

If you just can't find one at all, it will not harm your team at all. Just tell the front counter who isn't coming that night and they will remove them from your lane. This will neither hurt nor help your chances of winning that week. We do not have a fill-in list of players, so just ask around and bring a friend!

- The 15 minutes prior to game time is to practice and warm up. Come early though to get your shoes, find your lane, meet your competition for the night, grab a drink, order a pizza, stretch your quads, scope the scene, etc.

- If you do happen to come late (please plan on coming early!), just tell the front counter that you arrived and they'll allow you to catch up on the game. But how about coming on time or early!? Don't you wanna get your money's worth? Exactly.

- If you ever have a question about how to use the computer score machine thingy, or if your pins get stuck or whatever, ask the bowling alley staff and they will help you out.

One final thing. Some players will be freakishly awesome, some embarrassingly terrible. Whichever you are, come knowing that no one cares how good you are, that we're actually all equally skilled with the way we play using handicaps, and that we’re all here to hang out and meet some good people. Hopefully to make a connection!
